I googled my home town Parainen and collected some photos of it to Pinterest (you can take a closer look if you want). And I thought I’d tell you something about the town I live in.
Parainen is located in the South-Western archipelago of Finland (see the map). It’s 25 kilometers from Turku, which is the second largest city in Finland. There’s 15 534 people living in Parainen (November 31st 2011). 57 % of those people are Swedish speaking and 41 % Finnish speaking.
The thing Parainen is most famous for is it’s large limestone industry. Many of the town’s inhabitants find their living also from agriculture and fishing.
